Death of Mrs. Robert Burrill

Mrs. Robert Burrill, who resided about a mile east of Ellendale, passed away at her home on Friday afternoon, September 8, after the birth of a child which survived the mother. The funeral was held from the Catholic church at Ellendale on Sunday and remains were interred in St. James' Cemetery, in LeMars on Sunday afternoon. Deceased had made her home in the county for about twenty years and was held in high esteem by all who knew her and her sudden demise will be sincerely mourned by all and all will extend their deepest sympathy to the husband and children who are bowed with sorrow.

Deceased was born in Scales Mound, Ill., on September 14, 1860, her maiden name being Rosalie Montagne. She came to Plymouth county with her parents in 1882, and located in Liberty township. She was united in marriage wiht Robert Burrill in LeMars in 1886 and has made her home in this county since. Six children were born to her, all of whom survive her. Her father and mother preceded her to the grave, the father dying about three years ago and the mother died about a year and a half ago. Besides a most devoted husband she leaves three sisters and one brother. They are Mrs. John Salms of Chicago and Mrs. Josephine Rederick of Bridgewater, S. D., and Miss Ella Montagne of Merrill. The brother is Cais Montagne of Merrill.

A Sleep In Jesus

One of the saddest deaths it has been our duty to chronicle is that of Mrs. R. B. Burrell (sic--Burrill) who died last Friday afternoon at her home west of town. A bright baby daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Burrell (sic--Burrill) early Friday morning. Soon afterwards conditions assumed their normal state and Mrs. Burrell (sic--Burrill) was as well as could be expected. Along about noon time Mrs. Burrell (sic--Burrill) suddenly became deathly sick and calling her husband to her side said that she believed she would die as she was rapidly getting worse. Mr. Burrell (sic--Burrill) immediately telephoned to this place for a physician but before the doctor arrived she had passed away. The end came at about 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon.
A sleep in Jesus blessed sleep,
From which none ever wake to weep,
A calm and undisturbed repose
Unbroken by the last of foes.

The funeral services were held in the Ellendale Catholic church Sunday morning Rev. Fr. Connolly, of this place, conducting the same. The body was laid to rest in the St. Joseph cemetery in LeMars.

The pall bearers were, Geo. Dennler, Wm. Lindsey, Wm. Knorr, John Flannery, Lawrence Cleary and Edw. Bettsworth.

Mrs. Burrell's (sic--Burrill) maiden name was Rosaline (sic--Rosalie) Montang (sic--Montagne), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Montang (sic--Montagne), pioneer settlers of Liberty township, this county. She was born Sept. 14, 1860 at Scales Mound, Ill., and died Sept. 8, 1905. She was married November 9, 1886 to R. B. Burrell (sic--Burrill). To this union six chidren were born the eldest being Mary who is about seventeen years old, Clarence, Percy, Lester, Stella and the infant daughter to whom they have given the mother's name, Rosline Della (sic--Rosalie Adelia).

A husband and three sisters and a brother are left to mourn her departure. Her brother, Cias (sic--Cais), and sister, Isabelle, lives (sic-live) at Merrill. Mrs. Isador Rederick at Bridgewater, S. D., and Mrs. Josephine Saam at Scales Mound, Ill.
