Joy Joann (Koth) Odom
July 23, 1955 - November 12, 2025Joy Odom, 70, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of Milwaukie, Oregon, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with her family present on Tuesday, November 12, 2025, at CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Le Mars Bible Church. Pastor Mike Hulinsky will officiate with Pastor Fred Gums, Pastor Jake Wulbecker, and Pastor Derek Plegge assisting. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Le Mars Bible Church. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be directed to the Le Mars Bible Church and Camp Assurance.
Joy Joann Koth, the daughter of Kenneth and Virginia (Rau) Koth, was born on July 23, 1955, in Cavalier, North Dakota. She also lived in Jamestown, North Dakota and moved to Oregon City, Oregon with her family in 1968. Joy graduated from North Clackamas Christian High School. After high school, she worked at Willamette View Manor in Milwaukie, Oregon, and retired after 33 years.
Joy married the love of her life, Michael Odom, in August of 1992. They resided in Milwaukie, Oregon, until moving to Le Mars, Iowa in 2022.
Joy had a great sense of humor and lived up to her name in how she spread joy to family and friends. She loved her grand nieces and nephews and writing to them was a major part of her life. Joy listened to Christian music all day long and was blessed to be a member of the music review team for KNWC. She enjoyed times with family, her ladies Bible study, and going on day trips.
Joy was a member of the Oregon City Evangelical Church and Milwaukie Christian Church while in Oregon. She was currently a member of the Le Mars Bible Church.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Odom; sister, Kamie (Fred) Gums; brother-in-law, Mark Kolpitcke; sister-in-law, DeeDee (Decker) Helland; brother-in-law, Dennis (Chris) Odom; nieces and nephews: Dave (Kathy) Gums, Marie (Shannon) Arduser, Ben (Adrian) Kolpitcke, Katie Kolpitcke, Heather (Steve) Gann, Rick (Beth) Helland, and Aimee (Connor) Stites; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Virginia Koth; her sister, Brenda Kolpitcke; and her mother and father-in-law, Walter and Mary Jane Odom.
