Sue Ann (Lawrence) Richardson
March 10, 1950 - November 8, 2025Sue Richardson, 75, of Le Mars, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at her home in Le Mars surrounded by her family.
Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Merrill United Methodist Church in Merrill. Rev. Dr. Michel Lundula will officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.Sue Ann Lawrence, the daughter of Donald and Doris (Smith) Lawrence, was born on March 10, 1950, in Maryville, Missouri. Early on, she grew up in Blockton, Iowa, where she attended school. She moved with her family to a couple of towns before settling in Onawa, Iowa, where she graduated from West Monona High School. Following her schooling, she worked for the City of Onawa.
She was united in marriage to Edward Richardson on September 4, 1971, in Onawa, Iowa. She became a stay at home mom. After their oldest daughter, Angel, was born, they moved to Colorado. She continued to be a homemaker for her family. In 1976, they moved to Le Mars. While continuing to raise their children, she was also a secretary for her husband’s business, Dependable Fire Protection. After her children were grown, she worked at McDonald’s in Le Mars for a few years. Her greatest job was taking care of her grandchildren. Grandma Sue’s Daycare was the home away from home to all of her grandchildren. Ed passed away on October 9, 2017.
She was an active member of the Merrill United Methodist Church. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and volunteered at Le Mars Community Schools. Over the years, she enjoyed reading, ceramics, and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed having lunch with the “Wednesday Lunch Bunch”. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter: Angel (Robert) Vande Hoef of Le Mars, IA, and their children: Holly (Cody) Rinnels and Casey Vande Hoef; a daughter: Amber (Clint) Faust of Le Mars, IA, and their children: Calin and Kyler Faust; a daughter: Alyssa Kistner (Jeff Fienup) of Le Mars, IA, and their children: Rebecca Richardson, Natalie Kistner, Aaron Kistner, and Colin Fienup; a son: Josh (Tonia) Richardson of Le Mars, and their children: Hannah Richardson, Chaylee (Nick) Beeck and their children, Connley and Calan Beeck, BreAuna (Beau) Pick and their children, Marleigh and Bennett Pick, Keanen (Mia) Wieseler, and Caitlyn (Cole) Ernst and their children, Carsen and Carli Ernst; her siblings: Dennis (Cathy) Lawrence of Onawa, IA, Donna (Mike) Golden of Castana, IA, Donald (Vickie) Lawrence of Maryland, Daniel (Julie) Lawrence of Mapleton, IA, Sally Lawrence of Le Mars, IA, and Duane Lawrence of Sioux City, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, James and Helen Richardson; her brother, David Lawrence; her in laws, Bill Richardson, Scotty Richardson, and Harriet Lunda; a nephew, Ryan Lawrence; and two nieces, Dory Yackley and Lisa Martin.
