Richard Sidney Johnson, age 87, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away September 30, 2025 at Accura Nursing Home in Le Mars.

Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars, Iowa (1430 7th Ave SE) with Rev. Matthew Martin officiating. A Private Family Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, rural Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation with the family will begin at noon at the church on Saturday.

Richard (Dick), the son of Sidney & Mava (McCutcheon) Johnson, was born on November 24, 1937 at his parent’s farm near Manilla, Iowa. He received his education at the Manilla Public School in Manilla, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy from June 5, 1955 to August 25, 1958. He worked for several years at Sears Roebuck in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Dick was married to Beth Robson until 1968, and they had three daughters born to this union: Kris, Kelly, and Kim. He was united in marriage to Norma Puhrmann at Zion Lutheran Church, Paullina, Iowa on October 11, 1969. To this union was born two daughters: Julie and Amy.

He was involved in the carpet business for 45+ years and also owned and operated a furniture store in Albert City, Iowa for 7 years. He also had his own business, ProTech Inspection Service, a floor covering inspection service. Following his retirement, he worked part-time as a clubhouse attendant at Sunrise Point Golf Course in Storm Lake, Iowa for several years, and again in Le Mars, Iowa at Willow Creek Golf Course.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Le Mars, Iowa. He was confirmed on December 14, 1969 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge, Iowa. He enjoyed golf, playing cards and dominos, and putzing around on his computer.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Norma; and children: Julie Grantham and her husband Bob of Omaha, Nebraska; Amy Rolfes and her husband Jason of Akron, Iowa; Kris Johnson of Loveland, Colorado; Kelly Fuqua of Aurora, Colorado; Kim Hooper and her husband Jeff of Aurora, Colorado; seven grandchildren: Hunter and Brody Grantham, Emma and Brianna Rolfes, Brittney Ball and her husband Justin, Tyson Hart, Emilie Fuqua; three great grandchildren: Aliyah, Hope and Adalynn Hart, two sisters: Doris Schreiber of Montgomery, Alabama and Marge Kramer of Ankeny, Iowa; one brother, David (Sherry) Johnson of Ackworth, Georgia; sister-in-law, JoAnn Johnson of Denver, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Marlys Fear of Olds, Iowa; brother-in-law, Larry (Cindy Moos) Puhrmann of Iverness, Florida; brother-in-law, Denny Unrau of Spirit Lake; as well as many other friends and relatives.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Sid & Mava Johnson; a brother, Duane Johnson; sister, Phyllis Johnson; brothers-in-law: Gaylon Fear, Ed Schreiber, and Alvin Kramer; sister-in-law, Lorene Unrau; and parents-in-law, Ray & Alma Puhrmann.
