Almond DeCelle Barr 1914-2007
Almond DeCelle Barr, 92, of Kenosha, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at Beverly Living Center
Born in Akron, Iowa, on Aug. 5, 1914, the son of the late Grant and Laura (Gelinas) Barr. He attended the Public Schools of Akron, coming to Kenosha in 1937 to make his home. On March 4, 1939, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, he married Mary Pacetti.
Almond was employed by Northwestern Railroad for 28 years retiring in 1980. In the 1930’s he served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. A member of Our lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Barr of Kenosha; three sons, Gerald DeCelle (Jeanne) of Burlington, Wis., Ronald Keith (Kathleen) Barr of Gelndora, Calif., Thomas Duane (Barbara) Barr of Kenosha; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Velton, Garvis and Bruce Barr; sisters, Leonide Murray and Zepherine Lupi.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 9:30 a.m. at Proko Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Entombment to follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home.
