Mrs. Elnora Koedam, age 91, of Orange City, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Orange City Area Health System.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, March 29, at 11:00am, at the Alton Presbyterian Church in Alton, with the Rev. Harlan De Jong officiating. A luncheon and time of visitation with the family will take place following the service until 1:00pm. Interment will take place at the Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Elnora Mae was born on May 7, 1933, on a farm near Stickney, South Dakota, the daughter of Paul and Ida (Star) Olivier. She was raised in Corsica, South Dakota, where she attended country schools and graduated from Corsica High School in 1951.
On December 29, 1952, she married William John Koedam in Corsica while he was on furlough. They first made their home in El Paso, Texas, where “Bill” was stationed at the Fort Bliss Army Base. After his honorable discharge, the couple returned to Corsica. They also lived in Pierre and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, before making their home in Le Mars in 1961, where they remained for 30 years.
In addition to being a wife and mother, Elnora worked as a Tupperware saleswoman. In 1991, the couple relocated to Midway, Arkansas, and in November of 2005, when Bill became sick, they moved to Lone Tree to be with their son.
Bill passed away on December 14, 2005, after nearly 53 years of marriage. A few months later, Elnora made her home in Orange City. In March of 2022, she moved into the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City, and in May of 2024, she became a resident of the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.
Mrs. Koedam was a member of the Alton Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She especially cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In earlier years, she and Bill enjoyed camping, bowling, and riding their motorcycle as part of a Christian motorcycle group.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Debbie and John Seigel, of Omaha, Nebraska; Doug and Clarine Koedam, of Lone Tree; and Donna and Mike Rolfes, of Alton; eight grandchildren, Sarah, and her husband, Tim Wurth; Aaron Carlson, and his wife, Maite; Angie, and her husband, Chuck Miller; Amy Hartman; Jeremy Koedam, and his wife, Mary; Kristen, and her husband, Adam Durflinger; Kelli, and her husband, Bryan West; and Korey Rolfes, and his wife, Hallie; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Janice Koedam and Irene Olivier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
