Evon Gralapp, 74 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M., all on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Reverend Bruce Lawler will officiate. A private burial will be at Resthaven Memory Garden in rural Le Mars, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Heartland Care Center of Marcus Auxiliary or the American Legion.

Evon James Gralapp was born in Le Mars, Iowa on May 10, 1949 to parents Leslie & Lucy (Rolfes) Gralapp. He attended Gehlen Catholic School, graduating in 1967.

He was drafted into the United States Army in May 1969 and did his basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington. He served in the Vietnam War from October 1969 to October 1970. He was honorably discharged in February 1971 and returned home to the family farm east of Le Mars.

Evon married Nancy Steuben in Spencer, Iowa on August 25th, 1973. They farmed north of Le Mars.

He was a member of the American Legion, Wasmer Post #241 and the LeMars Knights of Columbus Council 1466. He was a past member of the Plymouth County Pork Producers and an avid card player. It is no secret he was also an Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Evon is survived by his three children and their families: Amanda (Mark) Sill of Madelia, MN & their children, Mariella, Jacob, and Lauren; Gena (Mike) Sternberg of Littleton, CO & their daughter, Camdyn; Cody of Stockton, CA and his wife, Crystal Huante.

He is also survived by his aunts: Lorraine (William) Foley of LeMars and Sister Fidelis Rolfes of Des Plaines, IL; brothers: Donald (Judy) of West Bend and Dennis (Sara) of Remsen; his twin sister: Eta (Jim) Chapman of Albia; his brother-in-law: Rick (Jennifer) Steuben of Everly; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his father- and mother-in-law: Gene and Shirley Steuben; his brother-in-law: Scott Steuben; and his sisters: Darlene (Donald) Lansink and Diana Gralapp.
