The Funeral of Dennis Burke
The funeral of Dennis Burke took place Tuesday morning from St. James Catholic church. The relatives who were within convenient distance were all present, but those in Oklahoma telegraphed that they would not be able to arrive in time for the services.
A long funeral procession followed the remains of the well kown citizen and popular neighbor to his last resting place in the cemetery at St. Joseph's. The pall bearers were: John Sullivan, D. Bradley, James Mohan, James Hughes, James Peacock and G. O. Grimes.
Mr. Burke was born in Dubuque and passed his early life and younger manhood in Dubuque and in Jackson county. He came to LeMars about twenty-five years ago and since that time has lived in Plymouth county. He was a man of upright character and greatly respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and family in LeMars. One sister, Mrs. Pat Flynn, lives in Perry township, Plymouth county, two sisters are in convents one at Iowa City, aud one at the convent of the Sacred Heart, in Chicago. One sister, Mrs. Dr. McGorrisk, lives in Des Moines. Three brothers and one sister resides at Perry, Oklahoma, and one brother is at Garyowen, Jackson county.
