Obituary.
T. R. Keating, one of the pioneers of Plymouth county, died at his home in Perry township, between three and four o’clock on Saturday afternoon, February 27, 1904.

His death was due to heart failure and dropsy.

Mr. Keating was widely known in Plymouth county, having lived here for thirty-four years. He was born in Ireland in 1831, where he spent his boyhood days. He went to England in 1851 where he remained until 1855 when he came to America.

He was united in marriage at Harvard, Illinois, to Miss Mary O’Brien on February 22, 1868, and in 1868 they moved to Monona county residing there two years, moving from there to Remsen where they lived for one year in the depot keeping boarders for Blair and Walker, who at that time were putting the Illinois railroad through.

In 1871 he moved on a farm near Remsen and was one of the pioneers who assisted in turning the barren prairies into a domain prolific in agricultural resources. After making his home there for twenty-eight years, he moved north of Sioux City in the spring of 1899.

He was the father of thirteen children of whom three are living and who, with their mother, mourn the loss of a devoted father. They are James Francis and Jeremiah both living at home and Mrs. J. J. Harvey of Sioux City.

The remains were taken to LeMars for interment. The pall bearers were friends of the deceased and were A. M. Nash, Francis Harvey, W. C. McNamara, Wm. Walker, Philip Garvey and Joseph Graham.
