ANSWERS FINAL SUMMONS.
Mrs. Johanna Bouma Dies From Illness and Old Age.

Mrs. Johanna Bouma, an old resident of this vicinity, died at the home of her daughter, on Saturday morning after an illness of several weeks. A general breakdown of the system consequent on old age brought on the end.

Mrs. Bouma was a native of Holland, where she was born seventy-five years ago in April, 1836. She passed her youth and was married in her native land, coming with her husband twenty-nine years ago to Plymouth county.

She lived in Marion township on a farm and later at Remsen and in LeMars. Her maiden name was Johanna Haarsma, and she was united in marriage with J. Bouma on June 6, 1858. Her husband preceded her in death, passing away six years ago on August 14, 1904. Since that time she has made her home with her daughters, Mrs. John Gengler, of Marion township and Mrs. S. Pangel, of this city, who devotedly attended and cared for their mother in her declining years.

Besides the daughters she leaves two sons, George Bouma, who is at present at Dokken, Holland, and James Bouma, of this place. A sister of the deceased, Mrs. John Vanderwahl, resides at Remsen.

Mrs. Bouma was a good Christian woman, a devoted wife and mother, a good friend and neighbor. The funeral was held yesterday morning at St. Joseph’s church in this city, Rev. Father. F.X. Feuerstein officiating, and the remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband in the St. Joseph’s cemetery.
