Mrs. M. Groetken Claimed By Death
Had Been In Excellent Health Until This Winter

Mrs. Mary Groetken died at the age of 68 years, in her home in Elgin Township at 7:30 Sunday night. Mrs. Groetken suffered an attack of influenza February 2, but apparently recovered from that. This was followed by rheumatic trouble and other complications, which finally resulted in her death.

The funeral will be held Wednesday forenoon at 10 o’clock at St. Josephs Catholic Church. Mgr. W. A. Pape celebrating the solemn high mass, and the body will be interred in Saint Joseph’s cemetery. Wiltgen’s in charge.

Deceased is survived by seven children: Henry F. Groetken, of Maurice, Joseph H. Groetken, John B. Groetken, George D. Groetken, William G. Groetken, Elizabeth Groetken, all living at home: Sr. Mary William, of North Washington, Iowa. One brother, Joseph Kamp, Elgin Township; Henry B. Kamp, Morris, Minn; George and John P. Kamp, Spokane, Wash; Mrs. Anna Lewis, St. Francis Home, Dubuque, are other brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Groetken, nee Mary Kamp, was born July 22, 1861, at Wabasha, Minn. where she attended school, and moved with her parents to Iowa in 1876, settling in Stanton Township, and in the fall of 1882 they moved to Le Mars.

Mary camp was married in November 24, 1885, to Henry Groetken in Le Mars, St. Joseph church, and they went farming for themselves on the home place in Elgin Township. Mr. Groetken died 31 years ago, leaving the rearing of the small children to the widow.

Mrs. Groetken was a lifelong member of the Catholic church and belonged to the Christian Mothers society.
