Terry Mac Nicoson was born July 28, 1949 in Rock Rapids, Iowa to Mac and Mildred (Kueck) Nicoson. Terry graduated from Central Lyon High School and attended Ellsworth Junior College in Iowa Falls and Morningside College in Sioux City. In his younger years, Terry enjoyed playing sports including basketball, baseball, and track and spending summers with his grandmother Anna Cecil Brock. He also spent several years in the Okoboji, Iowa area working as a lifeguard, scuba diver, and a bartender while also working at Consumer Lumber Company.
In his late 20's, Terry moved to Iowa City, Iowa where he met Rosalie (Rose) Joyce Robinette of Le Mars, while working with her at Wickes Lumber Company. Terry won Rose's heart in true gentleman fashion and they began an over 40 year life together filled with love, respect, and happiness. From a previous marriage, Rose had one daughter, Kari, and one son, Kory, both of whom Terry loved as his own. Terry and Rose were united in marriage on February 21, 1981 and then moved back to Le Mars. They continued to grow their family and had another son, Seth and daughter, Tara.
Throughout his time in Le Mars, Terry worked as a warehouse manager at Harkers for over 14 years before eventually joining Rose at Life Skills Training Center for 23 years. When he wasn't working to provide for his family, Terry enjoyed every moment spent with them. One of his favorite ways to spend that time was coaching his sons' little league teams. He also greatly enjoyed golfing and playing cards. Terry shared his love for the Okoboji Lakes area with his family and introduced them to the joys of sunset boat rides, taking "the boys" out tubing, and hours of drifting out on the lake. Terry will also always be remembered for his sense of humor that earned him the name of "Uncle HaHa". Terry's greatest life accomplishment will be leaving his children and grandchildren with the understanding that happiness comes from loving each other and spreading kindness in every way and to every one you meet throughout life.
Terry is survived by his wife Rose; four children: Kari (Rich) Van Dam, Kory (Lisa) Karr, Seth (Sarah) Nicoson, and Tara (Michael) Ladenthin; eleven grandchildren: Tyler, Emily, Brody, Jaelynn, Lennan, Keira, Carly, Iris, Mila, Wyatt, and Ayla; one great grandchild, Amiya; his brother, Steve Nicoson of Waukee, Iowa; his mother in law, Rosemary Robinette of Le Mars; a brother in law, John Robinette of Le Mars; two sisters in law: Roberta Kass of Le Mars, and Barbara Robinette of Dallas, Texas; and many very loved nieces and nephews.
