Obituary:
Bernice Baker, 90, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars.
Bernice Dorothy Baker was born on June 15, 1932, in Tracy, Minnesota, to Leonard and Opal (Milton) Johnson. She attended school until the 8th grade.
On Sept. 13, 1950, Bernice and Roscoe Virgil Baker were united in marriage at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. The couple made their home in Le Mars where Bernice was a homemaker and Roscoe worked as a diesel mechanic. Together, they had three children, Donna, Allen and Kenneth. The children were all baptized at Christ Lutheran Church.
Mema, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, enjoyed reading, collecting knick knacks, going on trips and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a great love for animals, especially cats.
Bernice will be lovingly remembered by her children; Allen Baker of Sioux City, Kenny Baker of Spencer, and Donna (Tom) Woll of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandchildren; Brandy (Willliam) Lees of Washington State, Allen Joe “AJ” Baker of Sioux City, Lee Sanow (Trisha Anderson) of Le Mars, Rae Snow (Jaik Bieler) of Le Mars, Ashley (Ben) Joines of Le Mars, Scott, Matt, Jenn, and Wes Woll all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a stillborn great-granddaughter, Autumn Mackenzie Lees.Memorials may be directed to an animal shelter in Bernice’s name.
Private family graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars.Arrangements are with the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars
