Ida Halweg

Ida Halweg, 85, of Le Mars, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 1995, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Mrs. Halweg, the former Ida Jeanette Kruse, was born Jan. 8, 1910, in Preston Township of Plymouth County, the daughter of John R. and Johanna D. (Reemts) Kruse. She attended a rural school and married Herman Roy Halweg on Dec. 22, 1932, in Preston Township. They farmed near Le Mars and then for a short time near Dundee, Minn. Mr. Halweg died Sept. 25, 1965.

After the death of her husband and son, Vernon, in 1965, she returned to the Le Mars area in 1966. She had been a resident of Plymouth Manor since August 1995.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran ELCA Church and the Epitha Circle of the church.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Elaine and Charles Klingebiel of Cannon Falls, Minn., two sons, Virgil and his wife, Mara of Elkhorn, Neb., and Roger and his wife, Candace of Apple Valley, Minn.; six grandchildren, Krista Nelson, Kerrie Erikstrup, Suzanne Gornell, Nicole, Jenifer and John Halweg; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Justine Nelson.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Kruse, Flora Renken, Tena Halweg and Hanna Haage; and two brothers, Fred and Herman Kruse; her parents, her husband, and a son, Vernon.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran ELCA Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Gary Landsness will officiate, with burial in Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars
