John F. Deegan

John F. Deegan, 47, prominent Elgin township farmer, sheep feeder, and pilot passed away suddenly at his home on June 23. 1960. He had resided his entire life in Elgin township.

Mr. Deegan whose address was Route I, Maurice, was born December 2, 1912, near Le Mars. His parents were the late John and Alice Deegan.

Mr. Deegan and Rose Mary Groetken were married on May 20, 1939, at Spirit Lake, Iowa. They have since resided on the Deegan farm.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25 at St. Joseph's Church in Le Mars. Rev. Patrick Nooney, pastor of St. Joseph's Church. Struble, the church that Mr. Deegan and his family attended, will officiate at the last rites. The burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars under the direction of the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home.

Survivors include his wife. Rose Mary; seven daughters, Eileen, Dianne; Donna; Lynne; Patricia; Joyce; Colleen; Maureen; five sons, John F., Jr.; Jerome; Thomas; Larry, and Michael. Also surviving are a brother, Robert of Tempe, Arizona; four sisters. Miss Alice Deegan of Riverside, California; Mrs. Irvin (Doris) Foitz Mrs. Lloyd (Ann) Carding of Glendale, California and Mrs. James (Patricia) Conners of Pasadena, California.
