MRS. MARY HENKE CALLED BY DEATH FRIDAY EVENING

Last Rites For Pioneer Plymouth County Woman Held Here Sunday

Mrs. Mary Henke, a resident of Plymouth county nearly all her life, passed away at her home in Akron on Friday, September 20, 1940, at 8:30 a.m., following a paralytic stroke suffered the previous Monday afternoon at the age of 80 years and 16 days.

Mary A. Tripp, second oldest child of a family of fourteen, was born September 4, 1860. When a child she moved to LeMars with her parents in 1877 she was united in marriage with August Henke. To this union were born three children, one of whom is living, Earnest Henke of Akron. Her husband, one son and one daughter preceded her in death a number of years ago.

She is also survived by five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four sisters, four brothers and 26 nieces and nephews. The brothers and sisters are: Mrs. Addie Miller, of Flandeau, S.D.; Mrs. Lilian Delaney and Mrs. Martha Nellis of Vermillion, S. D.; Mrs. Loretta Dopp, of Sioux City, Iowa; David and Henry Tripp, of LeMars, Iowa; Charles Tripp, of Vermillion, and Ed Tripp, of Sioux City.

Mrs. Henke possessed a kind and sympathetic nature, was devoted to her family and a helpful neighbor and friend. She gained many friends during her long residence here, who extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. H.McDonald at her home in Akron, Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment was in Riverside cemetery beside her husband and son. The pallbearers were Oscar Baldwin, Alvie Bellwood, Lowell Bellwood, Dalton Bellwood, Carl Moir and Victor Neal.
