GROFF, NICHOLAS 1871-1932
Nicholas was raised in Ossian, Iowa and was living in Remsen, Iowa in 1906 (Mother's obit).
At the time of the death of Nicholas in 1932 her was survived by his wife, Minnie, and two children from a former marriage, Mrs. C.E. Waters of West Union, Iowa and Edward Groff of Kankakee, Illinois, also one brother Frank J. Groff of Remsen, Iowa and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Lansing of Ossian, Iowa and Mrs. Anton Bach of Kenosha, Wisconsin. Nick had not been in good health for a year before his death, but was not confined to his bed until a week before his death when he suffered the stroke from which he never regained consciousness sufficient to speak. (From the Preston Republican - January 7, 1932) Nick was proprietor of the Decorah Produce Co.'s local office in Preston, Minnesota for sixteen years.
