It has pleased God to take the soul of our beloved sister, Mrs. John Molzen, nee Frances Oetken. Mrs. Molzen was born on the 29th of December 1898 near Akron, la. She was baptized in infancy and received her early education in the Akron public school. Later she attended Wartburg Normal college at Waverly, la.
June 25, 1919, she was joined in Wedlock with John Molzen. God blessed their union with four children, 2 sons, 2 daughters. Their youngest child, Stanley, died at the age of 6 months.
Mrs. Molzen was a faithful wife and a loving mother and daughter. Two years ago, her health began to fall, and after the birth of the last child, it was found necessary for her to seek a warmer climate. Mr. Molzen at once took her to Grace Lutheran sanitarium at San Antonio, Texas, where she remained until her death, May 2, 1935, at the age of 36 years, four months and 3 days.
Mrs. Molzen leaves to mourn, her husband, her mother, Mrs. F. Oetken, her mother-in-law, Mrs. M. Molzen, one son, Eldon, two daughters Ruth and Joyce, one brother, Mervin, and one sister. Mrs. Celia Wachtmann, as well as a host of friends.
Monday, May 6, she was laid to rest in the St. John's Lutheran cemetery in Preston township. A great multitude of friends attended the solemn funeral services and burial, testifying to their love and esteem of Mrs. F. Molzen. Her pastor, Rev. Theo Meyer, delivered the German sermon, and Rev. Gellerman preached in the English language, while the church choir sang especially selected hymns and the large assembly joined in the comforting hymns, "A Pilgrim and A Stranger," "Nearer My God and; "Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep, From which none ever wakes to weep. Calm and undisturbed repose, Unbroken by the last of foes."
