The two would-be robbers fled after the accident.

When the cars crashed, Mr. Begg was thrown through the window to the side of the car. He suffered a broken shoulder blade and several broken ribs. One of the ribs pierced his lung and the injury was believed to have been the primary cause of his death.

The man who was hurt fatally and his companions had worked together for the Mona Motor Oil company in Sioux City and were returning from Council Bluffs, where they had transacted some business.

The injuries of the other three men consisted mainly of cuts and bruises. Mr. Sorensen and Mr. Hartman were confined to their beds Saturday but had recovered sufficiently Sunday to walk around. Mr. Fugle returned to his duties Saturday.

Both cars were demolished in the smashup.

Mr. Begg was born in 1902 on a farm, near Le 'Mars, and lived there until a year and a half ago.
