Emil Herman Kamradt, the son of Herman and Gesina Von Hagel Kamradt and step-mother, Pauline Von Hagel Kamradt, was born November 3, 1916, in Merrill, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Merrill, where he received his early education. He was baptized and confirmed a Lutheran in Merrill, IA. He later served with the Army Air Force during WW II from 1942 to 1945.

Emil married Lucy Jane Warnke on January 3, 1945, in Paullina, Iowa.

Throughout his adult life, Emil farmed in the communities of Paullina, Moneta until moving to Sutherland in 1954 and moved into the town of Sutherland in 1964. Emil was a long-time member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and the American Legion in Sutherland.

Mr. Kamradt passed away at the Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on March 7, 1994, at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step mother.

He is survived by two daughters: Janet and her husband, Larry Petersen of Goldsboro, NC, and Margaret Larson of Vermillion, SD; seven grandchildren: Shelly, Ann Marie, Melissa, Wayne and Michelle Petersen, Lenelle and Matthew Larson; four great grandchildren: Linsey, Megan, Dustin and Joseph; one brother, August of Hartley; four sisters: Bertha Nelson, Emma Larson and Martha Kamradt, all of Minnesota, Leona Griffithe of Sutherland, IA; other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
