Thomas' Obituary

WESTFIELD, Iowa | Thomas Arden Banks, 92, formerly of Westfield passed away peacefully Monday, May 14, 2012, at Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point, S.D.

His wife and family were present. Graveside services will be noon Friday in Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City. The processional will be at 11:30 Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with the family present at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Born on Feb. 5, 1920, to Joseph F. and Florence O. (Ross) Banks, Arden was the youngest of 14 children. He resided on the family farm in Plymouth County, Iowa, his entire life. Arden graduated from Jefferson High School in 1937. He married Marie Kathryn Russell on May 14, 1940. He did baling on the farm and in the neighborhood. Arden owned his own well driller and excavated wells for many of the farms in the area.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Kathryn; and three generations of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; a son, Robert Arden; his mother; uncles; and siblings, Vera, Homer, Alvord, Howell, Orel, Ivan, Belmar, Marion (Postelwait), Wurth, Emmet, Merrit, Lloyd, and Joseph
