Death of William Eibel

William Eibel died at his residence on Cedar street a quarter past seven on Monday evening. He suffered a paralytic stroke between Friday night and Saturday morning from which he never regained full consciousness and he was unable to speak although he attempted to do so on one or two occasions.

For the past six months Mr. Eibel has been in failing health, suffering from paresis and although death came suddenly at last, it had been evident to his family that he was rapidly failing from sheer weakness.

Wm. Eibel was a native of Germany and was born in Hesse-Cassel, March 19, 1844. He came to the United States with his parents when a boy of fourteen years and they soon after settled in Clayton county, Iowa, on a farm. He was united in marriage on May 24, 1866, to Miss Elizabeth Langendorfer. After their marriage they resided on a farm for a number of years, subsequently moving to Macgregor and then to Minona, where Mr. Eibel engaged in the iron business. Later they lived in Minneapolis where Mr. Eibel went into the insurance business, which he has followed since. The family have resided in Le Mars for the past six years where they have gained many friends and acquaintances who will be grieved to learn of their loss.

Mr. Eibel was an active hustling business man, a good husband and father and an excellent neighbor and citizen. He had strong religious tendencies and was active in revival movements and church affairs. He was a member of the Methodist church during his life. He was a member of Ridgely Lodge I. O. O. F., of Minneapolis.

Besides his widow he leaves three sons and one daughter, Arthur, Fred and Elsie, who live at home and William who resides at Tomahawk, Wis., who is here to attend the funeral with will be held at the Methodist church tomorrow afternoon. The funeral cortage will leave the residence at 1:30. Le Mars Lodge No. 255 will have charge of the service.
