Obituary

Dan Urban, 52, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at MercyOne in Sioux City, Iowa. Due to public health concerns, a Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date. There will be a private family funeral service with burial to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars.

Daniel John Urban was born on November 9, 1967 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of John and Betty (Kleene) Urban. He attended Le Mars Community Schools, graduating in 1987. During those years he played football and worked at the Fareway Grocery Store.

In September of 1987, Dan was involved in a serious auto accident that changed the course of his life. He was able to work for a short time at Lally’s Eastside Restaurant. His life revolved around his family and his social network in the community. He never missed a family gathering and adored his nieces and nephews. Dan’s daily routine consisted of making his rounds in town and visiting with his numerous friends. They will miss his sense of humor and one line jokes. Everyone that knew Dan received a nickname. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and liked playing pool with friends.

Grateful to have shared his life are his siblings, Dave Urban of Le Mars, IA, Katy and Rick Prouty of Le Mars, IA, Ken and Linda Urban of Struble, IA and Kristy and Vaughn Bagstad of Le Mars, IA; nieces and nephews, Derek (Tesfa) Urban, Shawnae (Adam) Stockford, Jamie (Eddie) Knowlton, Tyler (Chelsie) Prouty, Nicholas, Andrea and Erica Urban, Judd and Aaron Bagstad; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
