Died Tuesday After A Long, Distinguished Career Here.Mrs. Anna Bellaire died suddenly at her home at 212 Plymouth St. S.E., Tuesday, January 25th. She was 85 years, 1 month and 17 days old at the time of her passing.
Born at St. Donates, Ia., on Nov. 28, 1863, Anna M. Debras was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Debras. Her parents died when she was 6 years old and she was adopted by Dr. and Mrs. Peter Schwind. Her brother and sisters now being a priest and the sisters nuns. She was married at Dubuque, Iowa, on May 16, 1882 to Frank Bellaire and lived for a while at Winona, Minn. She returned to LeMars in 1888, when she was 24 years of age.
In 1938 Mrs. Bellaire was honored by St. Joseph’s church and the town of LeMars on her 50th year anniversary as organist and choir director. A testimonial dinner was given in her honor.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bellaire will be Friday, Jan. 28 (tomorrow) at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery. Msgr. Fisch will read the Requiem High Mass. Wiltgen’s are in charge of arrangements. The remains will be there until time of service.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Carney of Watertown, S.D., Mrs. George VandeKarr of New York City, N.Y. One son, Louis Bellaire of Bronxville, N.Y. Five grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank, two sisters who were nuns, one brother in the priesthood and a son, Dr. Roy Bellaire.
Another grandson, Robert Bellaire, internationally known writer and radio commentator, who after surviving imprisonment in Japan at the beginning of World War 2, died in a jeep accident a few days after his return to Japan on a writing assignment. Mrs. Robert Bellaire and her three children live in Sioux City.
Mrs. Bellaire was a member of the Christian Mothers Society.

Mrs. Anna Bellaire Died Last Monday
Widely Known As A MusicianMrs. Anna Bellaire, widely known Le Mars musician and business woman, died at her home in this city Tuesday morning at the age of 85 years. She had been up and about the house the day before her death.
Anna De Bras was born November 28, 1863, at St. Donatus, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter De Bras. Her parents died when she was six years old and she was adopted by Dr. and Mrs. Peter Schwind, pioneer Le Mars residents. A brother and three sisters were adopted by other families and the brother became a Catholic priest and the sisters nuns. All preceded her in death.
She was married May 16, 1882, at Dubuque to Frank Bellaire, who died many years ago.
After her marriage Mrs. Bellaire lived for a time in Winona, Minn. She was widowed early in her married life and returned with her four children to Le Mars where for many years she conducted a successful music shop.
Mrs. Bellaire was organist and choir director at St. Joseph’s Catholic church for more than 60 years and was honored by that congregation by a memorial dinner on her fiftieth anniversary in that position. Her contribution to the musical life of this community as a teacher and organist has been generally recognized.
She is survived by a son and two daughters, Louis Bellaire, of Bronxville, N. Y., Mrs. George Van de Carr of New York City and Mrs. Katherine Craney of Watertown, S.D., the latter being with her when she passed away. Another son, Dr. Roy Bellaire preceded her in death.

The remains will be at the Wiltgen Funeral Home until service time.
