Funeral services for Leonard M. Hentges, 64, member of a prominent Le Mars family will be Wednesday at Los Angeles with the American Legion in charge of full military rites.

Mr. Hentges died unexpectedly Friday afternoon during surgery at Wadsworth General hospital at the veterans administration center at Los Angeles.

He was born February 24, 1889, at Le Mars, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hentges Le Mars pioneers. He attended St. Joseph Catholic school, Le Mars high school and Notre Dame university. He was associated in the management of Hentges Clothing company both at Le Mars and Watertown, S.D., before moving to Redlands, Calif., twenty-five years ago.

He was a veteran of World War I and was active in the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and other fraternal organizations, as well as civic affairs.

Surviving are a son, Lamphier, serving in the army in Japan, two daughters, Mrs. George Throup of Pasadena, Calif., and Miss Anne Hentges of Hollywood, Calif.; five brothers, Frank, Joseph, and Rome of Le Mars and Edward and John of Redlands, Calif., and two sisters the Misses Celia and Clementine Hentges of Le Mars.

His parents, two sisters, Mrs. Danna N. Hoffman and Miss Clara Hentges and a brother, Stephen preceded him in death.

Frank Hentges left Saturday evening for Los Angeles to attend the funeral.
