George Albert Mattas, of Washington township, died at his home on Sunday night following a brief illness of influenza and pneumonia.

George Mattas was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mattas and lived all his life in the vicinity of the place where he died. He was twenty-four years of age on November 19 last.

He was united in marriage on May 2, 1917, with Miss Mamie Utesch, daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. Paul Utesch, residing near Merrill.

He is mourned by his wife, his parents, three sisters and six brothers all living in this county with the exception of one brother who is in the army In France.

George Mattas was a progressive young farmer and well-liked in his home community, where many friends regret to learn of his early death and extend sympathy to the young wife and other relatives.

The funeral services will be held at the Johnson township Lutheran church this afternoon.
