Marlin G. Wenzel, 73, of Kingsley, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003 at his residence after an extended illness.
Marlin Gale Wenzel was born Jan. 17, 1930, in rural Kingsley, the son of Ray and Vada (Miller) Wenzel. He was reared in the Kingsley area.
Marlin married Delores Petersen Oct. 3, 1949, in Vermillion, So. Dak. After their marriage, Marlin and Delores farmed land north of Kingsley. He also worked as a custom house painter with Jay Lehner when his farming obligations allowed him the time to do so.
Marlin Wenzell was very devoted to his family and spent as much time with them as he could.
Marlin was a member of the Union Township Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Delores of Kingsley; a daughter, Marlene Main and her husband, Robert of Newton; a son, Lonnie Wenzel and his wife, Becky, of Kingsley; five grandchildren, Connie Simpson and her husband, Brad, Mark Main and his wife, Corinne, Shane Wenzel and his wife, Erica, Justin Wenzel and Ashley Wenzel; five great-grandchildren, Logan and Cheridan Wenzel, Andrew Simpson, Paul Vickrey and Marlin Main; two sisters, Beverly Harrison of Sioux City and Geraldine Harrison of Lawton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Allison, and a brother, Verlyn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Union Township Presbyterian Church, rural Kingsley, with the Rev. John McKinley officiating. Burial will be at the Kingsley Cemetery.
Visitation begins after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with family present from 5-8 p.m., all at the Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.
