Elmer A. Ludwigs, 73, died unexpectedly at his home Saturday (May 14, 1988) Plymouth county medical examiner Dr. Daryl Doorenbos said. Mr. Ludwigs was a Plymouth county native and lifelong resident.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran church, Grant township, rural LeMars. Rev. Jack Hebard officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of the Mauer- Johnson funeral home in LeMars.

Mr. Ludwigs was borrn April 28, 1915, in Plymouth county to Henry A. and Engel Kleihauer Ludwigs. He was never married and retired from farming in 1980. He was a member of Wilkens- Heeren- McHale Post 724, American Legion Post 724, Brunsville.

Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Herman (Elizabeth) Haage, Brunsville; Mrs. Mary Ruble and Mrs. Leonard (Ella) Molzen, both of LeMars; a brother, Jack Ludwigs of LeMars, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
