Note: She is listed here by the name Maude Fletcher and Maude Iris is listed on her gravestone. She is buried next to her parents. I am not sure if McCarthy is listed on the large Fletcher stone with her name but her name is Maude McCarthy. Her mother's maiden name is Nall.

HOLD RITES FOR MRS. M. McCARTHY

Death Comes To Woman Last Friday After Long Illness
Mrs. Maude McCarthy passed away last Friday, August 11, 1950, at the home of her mother, Mrs. Nora Fletcher, in this city, after a long illness, having been bedfast for many months. She attained the age of 47 years, 8 months and 26 days.

Maude Fletcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Fletcher, was born here and grew to womanhood in Akron vicinity. She attended school here and also took a course in Teachers College, following which she was a teacher in the Union county, S. D., schools for twelve years. She was united in marriage with Daniel McCarthy several years ago.

Surviving are the widower, Daniel; her mother; seven brothers, Darcey, Roland, Elmo and Floyd Flethcer, of Akron; Ray, of Elk Point, S.D.; Edgar, of Des Plaines, Ill.; and Quigley in New Jersey, and one sister, Mrs. Curtis Johnson of Dell Rapids, S. D.

She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters.

Funeral services were held in the First Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. E. Prewitt of Glenwood, Ia., a former Baptist here. The singing was by H. J. Behmer with accompaniment by Mrs. V. G. Adams. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Maude Fletcher passed away Friday evening at the home of her mother in Akron. She had been ill for some time, being confined to her bed the past few years and was cared for lovingly and tenderly by her mother, Mrs. Nora Fletcher through her illness.

Sympathy is extended to the relatives.

Coming from a distance to the funeral Tuesday were: Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Johnson of Dell Rapids, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Fletcher of Des Palines, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Quigley Flethcer from New Jersey.
