Funeral Tuesday for Tillie Worth

Mrs. Paschal (Mathilda) "Tillie" Wurth, 81, died Saturday, July 11 at Floyd Valley Hospital, after a brief illness.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14 at St. Mary's Catholic church here. Rev. John J. McGuirk officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under direction of the Fisch Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wurth was born April 16, 1911 at rural Remsen to Nicholas and Margaret (Majeres) Ruden. She was raised and educated in the Remsen area.

Her marriage to Paschal Wurth took place Sept. 1, 1931 at Remsen. After her marriage the couple lived at St. John's Paducah, Kentucky. They moved back to Remsen in 1935 where they farmed until retiring on the farm in 1968. Paschal died April 3, 1970. Mathilda moved into Remsen in December of 1987. She had been residing at Happy Siesta Nursing Home since Nov. 8, 1991.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies Catholic Order of Foresters and V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Surviving are ten sons, Eugene, William, Donald, Stephen J., Chester and Wayne, all of Remsen, Milo of Le Mars, Nicholas of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Vernon of Ainsworth, Nebr.; three daughters, Mrs. John (Shirley) Felts of LeMars, Betty Lou Niehus of Sioux City and Mrs. Wayne (Joyce) Heiesch of Remsen; 46 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edmund and Sylvester Ruden, both of Remsen; and a sister, Mrs. Martin (Armella) Willett of Alton.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; three brothers, Arnold, Frank and John Ruden; and three sisters, Mrs. Ray (Bertha) Ludwig, Mrs. John (Heken) Kincaid and Mr. Wilfred (Mary) Wurth.

Casket bearers were Darrin Arnold, Gary Felts, Dean Niehus, and Monty, Robert and Ron Wurth. Honorary pallbearers were Craig Bottjen, Donald and Monte Konopasek, Bill, Rick and Bill Langel Jr.
