Dorothy Siebsen

Dorothy Siebsen was born June 20, 1922 to Howard and Mammie Searls in Akron, Iowa where she was raised on the farm with her 9 brothers and sisters. Mammie died in childbirth when Dorothy was a young girl. Following high school, Dorothy attended Western Union College in Le Mars where she received her teaching certificate and worked as a grade school teacher in Rock Valley, SD.

In 1959, while attending a wedding dance with her sister she met a handsome man named Robert Siebsen, whom she promptly fell in love with and married that same year.

Bob and Dorothy moved to Round Lake, where Bob served as principal and then superintendent of schools. In Round Lake Bob and Dorothy had all three of their children, Mike, Chuck, and Susan.

The family moved to Le Center in 1965 where Robert served as Superintendent of Schools for 22 years. After retirement Bob and Dorothy moved to a lake home near Staples where they enjoyed retirement for nearly 20 years.

For the last 3 years Dorothy has been living in Oregon with daughter Susan, and more recently in a retirement community in Anoka.

Dorothy passed away suddenly on December 27, 2013 while recovering from a fall in Camillia Rose nursing home. She is survived by her brother and sister, Billy and Louis, her children Mike Siebsen and his wife Kathy (Cooney), Chuck Siebsen and his wife Janelle (Baker), Susan Rubey and her husband Mark, his grandchildren Daniel Siebsen, and his wife Abbey (Novotny), Tim Siebsen and his wife Jesse (Mach), Emmet Siebsen, Mykala and Nicholas Rubey, Noelle, Amber, Corinna, Nathaniel, and Brent Siebsen and her three great grand children Kaden, Kristin and Brayden Siebsen

Washburn-McReavy Seman Coon Rapids Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
