Gladys M. Williams, 84, of Merrill, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Gladys M. Williams was born June 12, 1920, in Hawarden, the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Johnson) Giffrow. She grew up on a farm near Akron, and had lived in the Sioux City and Merrill area since 1937. She married Donald G. Williams Sept. 20, 1941, in South Sioux City, Neb. He died Dec. 21, 1962, in Eagle Grove.

Gladys worked as a waitress at several places in Sioux City and retired from Floyd Valley Packing Co. in 1983.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #77.

Survivors include her sister, Lilliam Mohlmann and her husband, George, of Merrill; one sister-in-law, Marcia Giffrow; one brother-in-law, Harold Nelson; four nephews, Mike Nelson, Ronald Mohlmann, Darwin and Rusty Girrfow and other nephews in Minnesota; three nieces, Karen Mafnas, Donna Johnson and LeeAnn Shever and other nieces in Minnesota; several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Margaret Nelson, Lucille Scansen, Myrtle DeYeager and Dorothy Meinjohans; and three brothers, Harvey, Harry and Fred Giffrow.

The body was cremated and there will be no services. The Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City is in charge of arrangements.
