Mrs. Mary Null Passes Away
Former Resident Of Elgin Township
Relatives and friends of Mrs. John W. Null were notified Monday of her passing at the hospital in Slayton, Minn. Mrs. Null was nearly 60 years of age and was sick for a period of two months. She recently returned from Rochester but her condition was so serious that treatment was of no avail.
Mary Null was born July 15, 1883, at Litchfield, Illinois. She lived there with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Monke, until she was 17 years of age. She then went to Kingsley, where she was employed as housekeeper for her uncle, the late Herman Miller, of Currie, Minn. On December 26, 1910, she was united in marriage to John W. Null of Elgin township. They lived on a farm southwest of Struble until 1914 when they moved onto a farm they purchased near Currie, Minn. They resided on this farm until Mr. Null passed away in February, 1937. After this Mrs. Null traveled for a year, then moved to Slayton, where she purchased a home and remained until her death February 22.
Mrs. Null was a devout member of the Slayton Presbyterian church and a constant helper in all its activities. She was a popular member of the Eastern Star order, which had charge of the services at the grave.
Surviving Mrs. Null are four brothers: Herman of Pipestone, Minn.; Fred of Weinart, Texas; Edward of Kingsley, and George of Slayton, Minn. Two sisters survive, Mrs. Anna Heeren of LeMars and Miss Henrietta Null of Slayton. One sister preceded her in death. Mrs. Null leaves to mourn her passing many other relatives and a large circle of friends whom she has endeared by her many kindnesses and good cheer.
Among relatives who attended the funeral at Slayton on Wednesday were Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Null of Le Mars, Mrs. F. F. Null of Hawarden, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Albert of Canton, S. D., Will Null and Mrs. Susan Null of Canton, S. D., and Mrs. John Heeren and daughter of LeMars, and Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Null of White, S.D.
