Lived In Plymouth County More Than Half A Century
Gerd F. Null, a well-known resident of Plymouth county, passed away at his home in Brunsville, Monday, July 26, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Null was born in Wayne town ship, Jones county, Iowa, February 21, 1872. and was baptized in the Lutheran faith on April 25 of that year at Monticello, Iowa. He was. the son of J.F.; Null and the family moved to Plymouth county in 1881 and settled on a farm six -miles west and one north, of LeMars, which they rented for 24 years.
Mr. Null bought a farm of Nicholson’s and moved to it in 1903 and continued to reside on the farm until ill health forced his retirement. He was road boss for 22 years, town ship superintendent of road dragging for 12 years and served on the election board at 11 elections.
Mr. Null was married in LeMars in 1913 to Anna Schultz who nursed him through his long illness and proved a helpful and devoted wife through his years of ill health. Mr. Null was confirmed at Christ Lutheran church in Grant township in 1888 and his funeral was held from the Lutheran church in Brunsville, Thursday, July 29, Rev. Flentje officiating. While Mr. Null had poor health in his later years he never complained and was always a cheerful companion and a good friend.
He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Tillie Utesch, and a large circle of other relatives and friends
