Harry A. Reinholdt, 85, of Remsen, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Harry August Reinholdt was born May 23, 1919, in Henry Township, rural Plymouth County, on the family farm southeast of Remsen to August A. and Anna (Miller) Reinholdt. He graduated from Kingsley High School in 1937 and later attended Radio/Television Technical School in Los Angeles, Calif. He received his radio operator's license in June 1940.

Harry was united in marriage to Esther Stabe on March 4, 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. Harry and Esther farmed in the Hinton area for two years, the Marcus area for eight years, and then farmed near Remsen for 30 years. In addition to farming, Harry sold SAR Seed Corn. After retiring, Harry and Esther spent 27 years at their winter home in Texas and enjoyed many happy hours of square dancing.

Harry enjoyed spending his pastime fishing. During his Iowa winters, he used his early radio training to repair and rebuild radios and televisions.

Harry was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen. During his adult life, he was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hinton, Trinity Lutheran Church in Marcus and Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. He had served as Sunday school superintendent, congregation chairman, Men's Club president and secretary-treasurer, and trustee.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Esther of Remsen; four children, Sharon Pedersen and her husband, Marty of Bennington, Neb., Eunice Johnson and her husband, Hartley of Edina, Minn., Linda Reinholdt of Parker, Colo., and Janice Hildreth and her husband, Bill of Omaha, Neb.; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Reinholdt of Marcus and Walter Reinholdt and his wife, Violet of Lawton, Iowa; two sisters, Florence Heimgartner of Le Mars and Dorothy Rumohr of Rogers, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August A. and Anna (Miller) Reinholdt; a brother, Clarence Reinholdt; and a great-grandson in infancy.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen with the Rev. Robert L. Eggers officiating. Interment will be in the Remsen Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. The family will be present to greet friends after 6 p.m. and there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church. The Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Terry Kostinec, Rob Kostinec, Mark Kostinec, Joe Kostinec, Mike Nelson, Monica Luttman, Elizabeth Fowler, Mark Kounkel, Jacque Kounkel, Rick Nothem, Julie Sargisson and Kelly Tentinger.
