DEATH COMES TO MRS. LEWIS BLY ON NOVEMBER 19

Hold Rites Last Monday For Esteemed Union County Woman

Mrs. Lewis Bly, a lifelong resident of Union county and Akron vicinity, passed away at the Akron hospital Friday, November 19 at the age of 72 years.

Helma Olson, youngest of six children of Garl Olson and Sophia (Erickson) Olson, was born in Union county S. D., July 24, 1882, where she grew to young womanhood. On February 11, 1903, she was married to Lewis Bly, of Akron. They farmed in Union county, with the exception of three years of homesteading until 1918 when they moved to Akron and lived until 1926. After a brief residence in California they, moved back to Union county where they have farmed to the present time.

To Mr. and Mrs. Bly two children were born, a son, Clifford, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Irene (Mrs. Ray Wilhelmi) of Falls Church, Virginia.

She was baptized in the Big Springs Baptist church and always took an active part in the church work of the community where she lived.

She was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Easter Star and a member of the Past Matrons club of Vesper Chapter. She was always vitally interested in community life and belonged to the Union Creek and home extension club and the Roving Gardeners. She was respected and loved by the host of friends who knew her.

Surviving her besides her husband and daughter is a sister, Mrs. Tillie Erickson, Rock Creek, Minn.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o’clock p. m., Monday, November 22, at the First Baptist church in Akron, Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Mrs. Hugh Swift and Howard Johnson were soloists and Mrs. V. G. Adams was organist. Mrs. C. P. Kinser, and Mrs. Charles Allen were in charge of the flowers and Emery Tucker and Ellis Tucker were ushers. Pallbearers were Andrew Bredall, Arnold Klemme, Walter Young, Ralph Smith, Alfred Swanson and Clair McCorkell.

Relatives from a distance the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wilhelmi, Falls Church, Va.; Mrs. Tillie Erickson, Rock Creek, Minn.; Mrs. Sverre Martinson, Rush City, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Erickson, Forrest Lake, Minn.; also many out-of-town friends.
