FORMER WESTFIELD RESIDENT DIES
Rites Held At Geddes, S. Dak., Last Week For Mrs. W. Vanderburgh
Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Web. Vanderburgh, a former resident of the Westfield and Milnerville vicinities of the county. The following obituary appeared in a Geddes, S. D., newspaper:
Emma Cain was born May 23, 1859, in Bureau county, Illinois, and died January 31, 1947, at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 9 days.
On September 23, 1878, she was united in marriage with Webster Vanderburgh. To this union two children, Clarence Benam and Bertha Leah, who preceded her in death.
The family moved to Iowa in 1892 and to Geddes in 1905. After the death of her husband July 8, 1930, at Westfield, Iowa, Mrs. Vanderburgh made her home with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Vanderburgh, of Geddes.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Bert Vanderburgh; four nephews and two nieces.
Services were conducted from the Community church Monday afternoon, Rev. John Whalley preaching the funeral sermon. Pallbearers were: Ben Huggins, Bob Kemper, Wesley Miller, Will Gau, Greg Mois and George Balcom. Interment was in the Pleasant Lawn cemetery.
