The Gazette, Colorado Springs, CO, March 31, 2005: Lorne Charles Sanny (November 22, 1920 - March 28, 2005).

Dr. Lorne Sanny, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather--a Colorado Springs resident since 1953--died on March 28, 2005 of complications of pneumonia after several months of serious health issues and recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. He was 84.

Born to Charles and Emma Sanny of Granville, Iowa, on November 22, 1920, and raised in LeMars, Iowa, a key commitment to Jesus Christ in his teen years would direct his life. He attended Bible Institute of Los Angeles, where he met and joined The Navigators, a Christian ministry. He later served the organization as president for three decades, and continued to be a valued resource to The Navigator staff worldwide, a mentor to Christian businessmen, and an active participant in First Evangelical Free Church until his death. Among his many accomplishments is the development of follow-up material for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The Christian Management Association named him Christian Manager of the Year in 1987. Late last year, he was awarded Discipler of the year by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Lorne is survived by his wife, Lucy, his six children, Tom (Pam) Sanny, Beverly (Ted) Hough, Charles (Janell) Sanny, Cheryl (Jonathan) Downing, Jean Sanny, and Judy (Trent) Templeton; eight grandchildren, John, Charles, Becky, Tsnia, Alison, Caleb, Andrea, and Heidi; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jacob, Rachael, Blake, Aaron, Kaitlyn, and A.J.; his sister, Lola Medlin, and brother Lester Sanny; and he is preceded in death by his brother Leonard Sanny.

Visitation will be Friday, April 1, 2005 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montabello Square Dr. The memorial service open to the public will be held Sunday, April 3, at 2:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Castle at Glen Eyrie, The Navigators' worldwide headquarters, with a reception following. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers gifts be sent and designated to the Sanny Glen Eyrie Fund in care of The Navigators, P.O. Box 6000, Colorado Springs, CO 80934.
