April 22, 1916 - June 12, 2017

Elsie M. Easton, 101 of Sioux City died Monday, June 12, 2017 at a local care facility.

Services will be held 10 am Saturday, June 17th at Riverside Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa. Visitation 4-8 pm Friday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave., with family present 6-8 pm and a Prayer Service at 7 pm.

Elsie was born on April 22, 1916 in Merrill, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Magdalena (Lehmann) Johnson. After graduation, she was united in marriage to G. Roger Easton on November 29, 1934 in Merrill. Roger died in 1989. She was a homemaker and lived in the Sioux City area all of her life.

She was a member of the Riverside Lutheran Church, ALCW, the Women's Circle, and a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Junior Lutheran Farm Bureau Women and the Northwest Iowa Genealogical Society. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards and volunteer work at Head Start.

Elsie is survived by her daughter, Laila Gray of Sioux City, 7 grandchildren, Joel (Darla) Easton, Jeanie Easton, Dawn (Pat) Coyle, Rick (Merrilee) Easton, Jeremy Easton, Craig (Evie) Gray and Laura (Todd) Seaton; 16 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; and a Daughter in-law Glenda Easton.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roger, her parents, her son Darrell Easton and 2 infant daughters, 3 grandsons, 2 great-grandsons, 3 sisters, Meta Yoerger, Emma Van Oort and Ellie Johnson; 3 brothers Gerd Johnson, Arnold Johnson and Harold Johnson; and a son in-law, Willis Gray.
