Margaret A. Moir

Margaret Alice Moir, 89, a LeMars native and lifelong area resident, died Saturday April 14, 2001, at The Abbey of LeMars.

The former Margaret Alice Weidenfeller was born March 4, 1912, at LeMars, the daughter of Oscar and Rowena (Rees) Weidenfeller. Margaret was raised in the LeMars area and attended St. Joseph's Parochial School. She married Earl Moir Dec. 4, 1930. Mr. Moir died Feb. 2, 1988.

Mrs. Moir was a member of St. James Catholic Church in LeMars. She had been active in the Democratic Party. She was a Past President of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and had organized the Eagles youth dances in the 50's and 60's.

Margaret enjoyed writing poetry and loved bird watching and nature in general.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann and her husband, Ron Nitzschke, of Orlando, Fla.; two sons and their wives, Jim and Margie Moir of LeMars, and Steve and Pat Moir of Hot Springs, S. D.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; an da sister-in-law, Geri Weidenfeller of LeMars.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl; a son, Mike Moir; a granddaughter, Kimberly Moir; a brother Gene in infancy; a sister Alice Lanners; and a brother, Oscar "Brick" Weidenfeller.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church in LeMars with the Rev. Richard Ries officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in LeMars. Friends may call anytime after 4 p.m. Thursday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars. A Scriptural wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Nitzschke, Pat Nitzschke, Chad Moir, Greg Moir, Matt Moir, and Mark Moir.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the fund for the meditation room at the Floyd Valley Hospital.
