Warneke Rites Held Wednesday-Died at Methodist Hospital Sunday Afternoon.
August Warnke, the son of August and Caroline Warneke was born in Hanover, Germany on the fifth day of February 1861.
Seeking to improve their condition the family came to America when he was a lad of 8 years old. They cultivated a farm near Plattsburg, Wisconsin for several years and then, removed to Sac County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood.
On March 1, 1888, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kimm. For a year, they lived on a farm near Holstein and in 1889, came to Plymouth Co., residing on a farm 4 miles northeast of Kingsley. In 1925, they moved to Omaha, where they lived a year, and then spent one winter in California. Since 1925, has been a resident of Kingsley.
Mr. Warneke's illness began in December when a carbuncle developed on his neck. Two weeks after his wife's death, he was taken to the Methodist hospital in Sioux City and everything possible was done to help him. Two operations on his neck failing to relieve him, an operation was performed on his leg. His condition gradually became worse until he laid down the burden's of his life, having reached the age of 71 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Interment was made in the Kingsley Cemetery.
