John Wesley Holloway, the son of Albert S. and Mary (Ferdig) Holloway, was born October 15, 1959, in Atlantic, Iowa and died November 8, 2018, at his home in Exira, Iowa under hospice care at the age of 59 years and 23 days. John and his brother Irvin were raised by their aunt and uncle, Joseph and Dorothy Holloway who later became their parents.

John was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Bronson, Iowa. He attended the Corning Community Schools through the eighth grade. John then trimmed trees, did farm work, and later began driving truck.

On October 4, 1976, he was united in marriage to Cindy Thomlison in Rockport, Missouri. They were blessed with three children Shawn, Pamela, and Deborah. John continued trimming trees and farming until 1985 when he started trucking and in 1988 purchased his own truck (the “mean green machine”. He operated his own trucking business for several years then sold the truck. John was an “over the road” trucker for several different businesses until 2012. John again purchased his own truck and operated Holloway Trucking with the help of his wife Cindy. He drove over the road for several years then modified the cab on the truck so that he could haul grain for Landus until he had to retire in May of 2018 due to his failing health.

John’s passion was truck driving. He enjoyed playing cards, Yahtzee, and watching TV. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving and he thoroughly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren opening their Christmas presents. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
