OBITUARY:
Mrs. William Gant, 78, of Akron died Monday night at the Akron hospital of a brief illness.Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick Catholic Church. The Rev. Stanley Stone officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery. The Rosary was said at 4 p.m. Wednesday by the Catholic Daughters of America and at 8 p.m. by the parish at the Schroeder Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gant, the former Edith E. Kinleyside, was born Feb. 11, 1899, in Sioux City. She was married in 1924 at Westfield. Her husband died in December of 1975.
The couple farmed for 18 years near Westfield until 1942 when they moved to a farm in Union County, SD. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Home Extension Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Town and Country Club, the Rosary Club and was past president of the Akron Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two sons, William of Hawarden and Robert of Sioux City; three daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Sally) Harrington of Laurel, Neb., Mrs. Ruben (Dorothy) Engel of Sioux City and Mrs. Raymond (Kathleen Rose) Janosky of Downers Grove, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Min Hamlin of Garden Grove, Calif. and Mrs. Ruth Gant of Hawarden.
