Fred Toel Died Friday In Le Mars

Resident of Plymouth County Half Century

Fred Toel, 72, well known Plymouth county farmer until his retirement this year, died Friday after an illness of more than three years that confined him to his bed the past five months.

Fred Toel was born in Germany, July 20, 1871, and came direct to Plymouth county when he arrived in United States in 1890 and had lived in Plymouth county 54 years. He married Margaret Scheef of Brunsville in 1914. He was a blacksmith at Round Lake, Minn., for 12 years and lived in Brunsville for 12 years before locating on the farm near Hinton where he lived until this year.

Survivors include Mrs. Toel, two sons, Louis of Hinton and Wilbur in the navy in the Pacific; a sister, Mrs. Henry Borchers of Le Mars; a brother, Ben Toel, of Brunsville and a grandson.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Mauer Funeral Home with Rev. E. J. Broetzmann officiating and burial was in the city cemetery.
