Widely Known Seney Citizen Taken By Death
Fred B. Rees, Life Long Resident Of County, Dies After Lingering Illness

Fred B. Rees, 51, well known farmer and life long resident of Plymouth county, died at the Sacred Heart hospital in this city, Wednesday night, following a lingering illness. His health had been failing for a year and he entered the hospital for treatments three weeks ago. An internal malady, which baffled the skill of physicians, was the cause of his death.

Mr. Rees was a son of pioneers, who early settled near LeMars. He was born July 21, 1884, on a farm in America township, and the family later moved to Elgin. He received his early education in the rural shcools and followed the occupation of farming all his life, with the exception of a few years, when he conducted a general merchandise store in the then thriving village of Seney.

He was united in marriage with Miss Lena Penning January 1, 1910 (error--1908). He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mrs. F. B. Rees, one son, Marshall Rees, and a grandchild. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Bowen, of Tacoma, Wash., and three brothers, Ted Rees, of LeMars; Thomas and William Rees, of Elgin township.

Mr. Rees was a good citizen, neighborly and just in all his dealings, a devoted husband and father and esteemed by all who knew him.

The funeral will be held at the Presbyterian church in this city at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, Rev. F. P. Pfaltzgraff officiating.
