John F. Wilken

AKRON, Iowa – John F. Wilken, 74, of Akron, died Sunday in a Sioux City hospital following a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Akron. The Rev. Robert Kruempel will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilken was born on Sept. 26, 1909, at Akron. He married Delia Koch on Sept. 26, 1934, at Akron. The couple farmed in the Akron area until retiring and moving into Akron in 1971. Mrs. Wilken died on June 22, 1976.

Survivors include one son, Dennis of Akron; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Sharon) Davis of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Art of Akron; four sisters, Minnie Gabel of Hawarden, Iowa, and Hannah Grasz, Freda McAninch and Dena Jacobs, all of Le Mars, Iowa; and six grandchildren.
