Marvin Cooper, 80 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the United Methodist Church of Le Mars. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2018 and will resume at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, all at the United Methodist Church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Life Skills Training Center in Le Mars.
Marvin Lee Cooper was born on July 14, 1937 in Le Mars, Iowa to Orville and Fern (Chapman) Cooper. He participated in FFA in high school and graduated from Le Mars High School in 1956. After graduation he attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux City. He then began farming for several years in Struble until 1984. He lived in Le Mars, Orange City, and Alton before moving back to Le Mars in 1997. Marvin also served in The National Guard for six years. Marvin had worked at: Plymouth County ASCS office in Le Mars, Farmer Coop Elevator in Orange City, MOC School in Orange City, St. Mary’s School and Church in Alton as a custodian, and Marion Health Hospital in Sioux City. He retired in 2000.
Marvin is survived by his daughter, Debra Broek of Orange City, Iowa; son, Kevin (Dawn) Cooper of Orange City, Iowa; grandchildren: Michael Broek, twins Kelsey and Kayla Cooper, twins Ashley and Amber Cooper; a nephew, nieces, friends, and extended relatives.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Fern; and two sisters: infant Arlene and Mavis Sorgdrager.
