Duncan McArthur Died Saturday In Home Near Seney
Had Been Resident of That Community For Sixty Years

Duncan Ferguson McArhtur, for more than 60 years a resident of Seney community died Saturday, September 21, in Sacred Heart hospital where he has been a patient for two weeks.

Duncan McArthur was born February 15, 1868 (error--1869), in Guelph, Canada, the son of Nathaniel and Fannie McArthur. The family came to Sabula, Iowa, in 1874, and on to Plymouth county in the spring of 1885. Mr. McArthur was married on (in) 1892, to Jane M. Hinde and they have lived on a farm in Elgin township until Mr. McArthur's death.

Surviving are Mrs. McArthur, a daughter, Mrs. Earl Chapman, and a granddaughter, Lois Jean Chapman, all of Elgin township. He is also survived by two brothers, Dan McArthur of Sheldon, and Alex McArthur of Seney and numerous nieces adn nephews. Two brothers, John of Kansas and William of Sioux City and two sisters, Sarah Chafer of Clinton and Mary Dickinson of Freeport, Ill., preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Mauer Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, with Rev. John Oerter of the Presbyterian church officiating, and burial will be in the LeMars city cemetery.
