DEATH SMITES YOUNG FARMER

EDWARD BARKLEY, FORMER RESIDENT OF LE MARS, SUCCUMBS TO BRIEF ILLNESS

Following a severe attack of illness which developed into pleuro-pneumonla, Edward Barkley, aged 44, died at his home near Sac City, Iowa, early Wednesday morning. He underwent an operation tor goiter a week before his death and was apparently recovering when he suffered a relapse and died within a few days.

Mr. Barkley formerly lived in Le Mars and was a brother of Mrs, J. A. Gilmer, of this city, who resides at 507 Sixth Avenue SW. Mrs. Gilmer was called to Sac county last week by the Illness of her brother and was at his bedside when the end came. Mr. Gilmer went to Odebolt Friday to attend the funeral of his brother-in-law, which was held Saturday afternoon In the Presbyterian church at Odebolt.

Edward Barkley was born and lived the greater part of his life in Sac county. While residing In Le Mars, he was united in marriage four years ago to Miss Edith Sanow of this vicinity His death is mourned by his wife and little son, Bobbie Dean and his brother and sisters, who who are Will Barkley of River, Colo.: Mrs. J, A. Gilmer, Le Mars; Mrs. Robert Meyer, Storm Lake; Mrs. A.C. Hansen, Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. O Whetstone of Des Moines.
