OBITUARY:

Anton Wittkop, 77, retired LeMars farmer, died Sunday (Oct. 8, 1972) at Floyd Valley hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Wittkop and his wife made their home in LeMars at 25 Seventh Ave. until they both became ill and moved to Floyd Valley hospital four years ago.

Mrs. Wittkop died in March 1971.

Funeral services for Mr. Wittkop will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic church with Msgr. Dean Walker officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under direction of the Luedtke funeral home. Wasmer Post of the American Legion will conduct military honors at graveside.

Friends may call at the Luedtke funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday. Parish rosary and wake service will be at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Anton Wittkop was born Nov. 7, 1895, at Remsen, the son of John and Theresa (Niggman) Wittkop. He married Theresa Rodenbour Jan. 14, 1941, at Struble.

He served in the army during world war I and was a member of Wasmer Post of the American Legion.

Mr. Wittkop was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a sister Anna and two brothers, Henry and John.

Survivors are three brothers, George of Remsen, Charles of Sheldon and William of LeMars, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Neisius, Mrs. Elizabeth Groetken and Theresa Wittkop, all of LeMars.
